If you have an old G3 iMac, the original version with the CRT, and you start looking for ways to reuse it, you’ll soon come across the idea of turning it into a cat bed. Because this is the internet. Having found myself in exactly that position recently, I realized I could create not only an iMac cat bed, but the best iMac cat bed. That’s because the G3 I got from my dad’s basement clean-out project was one of the special edition “Flower Power” models.
So here it is, a piece of e-waste converted into the ultimate flower-printed box of cuteness.
Initially, I tried loading a special version of the “Panther” operating system. That ran a little too well, and soon sprinted off to chase a toy mouse.
More recently, I installed a very elegant custom software package optimized for appearance. It’s not nearly as fast, and the user interface is a bit cantankerous, but it looks great in the living room.
